Beta readers are an author's secret weapon. They read an author's manuscript before it's edited or published, providing feedback on plot, character development, pacing, and overall readability so the author can make adjustments before sending the work to an editor or sending it to the press!

Please contact me for a quote. You can also use this quick beta reading pricing tool.

Understand what works and what doesn't

A beta reader reads your book as someone who bought or borrowed your book would. They leave constructive feedback regarding:

  1. The overall reading experience

  2. What they liked and what they did not like

  3. What they feel could be improved

  4. If they were able to engage with the characters

  5. If there was anything unclear (possible plot hole?)

  6. If the story flows naturally

  7. And whatever else you think may be important

Not an editor

It is important to remember that you don't hire beta readers to edit your book. They are not looking for grammar and spelling mistakes; however, if there are glaring errors, they may point them out.

Ask your own questions

I always recommend providing several questions that are important for you with regard to possible edits. If there is a chapter you are not 100% happy with, ask your Beta to focus on that. For example: Is the motivation of Character in Chapter 6 to do this or that clear?

Confidential

Your beta reader(s) will not disclose information regarding your manuscript to anyone. We will sign a non-disclosure agreement prior to reading your book.

Find a beta reader or beta team

I would love to beta read your book. I enjoy reading and reviewing books and helping you reach the next milestone of your publishing journey.

If I am busy editing, I may be able to point you to someone who would love to help you with this stage of the publication process.

Pricing
